The Utah Wild Sheep recovery effort is a major success story. With the financial resources from generous Utah Wild Sheep Foundation donors, partners with the National Wild Sheep Foundation and other Utah WSF Chapters, and a tremendous amount of work to negotiate buyouts of domestic sheep, protect against excessive predation, engage poaching patrols, and other management activities, Utah’s bighorn sheep population has grown from only 500 to over 5000.

As a member of the Utah Wild Sheep Foundation, you support the organization’s mission to help put–and keep–healthy sheep on Utah’s Mountains.

Why Become a Utah Wild Sheep Foundation Member?

Most people join the Utah Wild Sheep Foundation to be part of something they believe in. They understand the threats that face the bighorn sheep population in Utah, and want to help assume and support the responsibility of mitigating those threats.

Becoming a Utah Wild Sheep Foundation member is about more than the small annual membership fee or committing to a lifelong membership seeing your name on our Life Members’ page. Being a member is about knowing you’re supporting efforts that have a real impact on the health, habitat, and continued presence of a species important to the Utah mountains.

Here are some of the reasons our members join the Utah Wild Sheep Foundation:

Support a Cause You Believe In

Whether you’re an outdoor enthusiast, animal lover, or sportsman, you’ll appreciate the efforts the Utah Wild Sheep Foundation makes to increase healthy bighorn sheep populations in Utah.

Utah WSF was founded in 1980 when a single Desert Bighorn tag was auctioned and the funds were used to introduce a couple small herds to the Utah mountains. Without that introduction, the big die-off of 1985–most likely caused by a fatal virus transmitted by domestic sheep–would have most likely meant the end of bighorn sheep in Utah.

Through the efforts of the Utah Wild Sheep Foundation, the bighorn sheep population in Utah has increased from only 500 to over 5000.

Tax-Deductible Donations

If charitable contributions are part of your financial tax strategy, then you can feel confident donating to the Utah Wild Sheep Foundation. As a non-profit  501(c)3 organization, your membership fee is tax deductible, as are any additional contributions you choose to make.

Annual Utah Wild Sheep Foundation Banquet

Our annual Utah Wild Sheep Foundation banquet is the highlight of the year and almost always sells out early. This dinner includes food, raffles, and auctions, and is a great time to enjoy socializing and networking with other Utah Wild Sheep Foundation members and supporters. It is the best chance of snagging a sheep hunt and is always a great event. As an Utah Wild Sheep Foundation member, you’ll receive early information about the banquet and an opportunity to purchase tickets before sales open to the public.

Annual Magazine Subscription

Each year, Utah a wild Sheep Foundation publishes a magazine for members highlighting recent projects, population developments, and–the most popular section of the magazine–shows off success photos from our members.

Share Your Success Photos

We love celebrating our members’ achievements and are eager to share your success photos on our website, in our magazine, and in our banquet program. Have you gotten a chance to see our member success photos recently? Click here for the gallery.
